The TSITT successfully hosted No-Dig Turkey, in conjunction with the 4th Water Loss Forum Turkey, on 29–31 March 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.

More than 1,000 participants and 30 companies from Germany, UK, Austria, Japan, Russia, Belarussia, Malaysia, Iran, Egypt and Turkey took part in the event in the event.

Turkish Society for Infrastructure and Trenchless Technology (TSITT) Chairman Yasin Torun presented the opening speech at the event, before the General Managers of Turkish Ministry for Water Affairs, Istanbul Water and Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration made keynote presentations, respectively.

The international trenchless community was also represented at the event, with German Society for Trenchless Technology Executive Director Dr Klaus Beyer and Austrian Association for Trenchless Technology Board Member Mark André Haebler attending No-Dig Turkey as guests of honour.

Conference program Four sessions were held during the event, presenting the benefits of trenchless applications to decrease water losses in pipelines. Turkey has a 20-year history of utilising Trenchless Technology, mainly microtunnelling, horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and no-dig pipeline rehabilitation methods. As urbanisation of Turkey’s metropolitan cities continues, local and central governments have found there is no better alternative to trenchless solutions for the new installation and rehabilitation of underground infrastructure. It is expected that between 2018 and 2020, more than 6,000 km of CCTV inspection and trenchless cleaning works will be completed in Istanbul. This includes more than 200 km of cured-in-place pipe and close-fit sliplining works, as well as more than 100 km microtunnelling, pipe jacking and HDD works during the same period.
The event will return next year, with No-Dig Turkey 2019 Expo scheduled to take place at the Istanbul Congress Center on 2–4 May 2019, in conjunction with 5th Water Loss Forum Turkey. Source
